We have recently returned from our latest trip to the South Seas Islands, buying stock for the 2009 holiday season. It was hot and humid, reaching 40 Celsius at times, cooling to a bareable 28 at night.
Good to catch up with the people who have become our friends, and to meet new people with new product lines, skills and talents. Everyone is happy to see us placing orders at a time when the export trade and economy is struggling.
We have ordered all the old favourites, wooden birds, bamboo wind-chimes, pebble pots, mosaic bowls and wooden carvings of all types and sizes. Also many new lines, especially musical instruments, wooden jewellery, and a stunning new line of large rattan and teak pieces – you must see for yourself.
After three busy weeks of placing orders we become weary and are ready to return to the routine of running a shop.
We look forward to our returning in a years time to these beautiful islands, searching for exciting new sources.
