Hello from beautiful Beddgelert!

I’m Nicola, and together with my mum Jane, we run Beddgelert Woodcraft – a little shop with a big heart right here in the middle of Snowdonia National Park. Many of you already know us (hello again 👋), and for those who haven’t yet visited – we can’t wait to welcome you.

Over the years, we’ve built something more than a shop – we’ve built a community of visitors, regulars, and wonderful artisan friends from around the world.

🌍 Our Story – From Beddgelert to Bali

Our journey began decades ago when the shop was founded by Mike Garside, a renowned local woodturner. As the years went on, Mike began travelling to Indonesia to work directly with artisan producers – and we’ve been doing the same ever since.

Since 2007, Mum has taken the lead in sourcing – forming real friendships with the artists and families we work with in Bali. We now collaborate closely with them, blending traditional skills with our own designs, to create items you simply won’t find anywhere else.

“Our Welsh Lovespoons, for example, are designed right here in Wales and hand-carved by expert woodworkers in Indonesia – then hand-finished by us in the shop!”

☔ Life in a Welsh Village (Yes, It’s Often Wet!)

Running a shop in Snowdonia means you get very good at adapting – especially to the weather! It can go from sunshine to full-on drizzle in the time it takes to unpack a box. But that’s part of the charm, and we’re lucky to have such lovely customers who visit come rain or shine.

Many of you make a point of popping in every year – and some of you follow us online and keep in touch from afar. We appreciate every single one of you.
